5 Stubborn Stain Removal Tips from Purex

Purex® detergents have the cleaning power your laundry needs! But did you know there are everyday household tips you can use along with your Purex® detergent to help fight some of life’s hardest stains? Purex® shares additional tips on how to remove stubborn stains like coffee, dirt, and ketchup & mustard.

coffee stain

1. Tips to Remove Coffee Stains

Run the coffee stained clothing item under cold tap water immediately after spilling the coffee stain. Make sure to douse both the front and the back of the coffee stain. Rub the stain gently for one or two minutes to help loosen up the stubborn marks. Repeat this 2 to 3 times before washing with Purex® liquid detergent. For more helpful tips and a more in-depth guide, read how to remove coffee stains.

dirty stain

2. Tips to Remove Dirt Stains

Soak the dirt-stained item of clothing in cool water with 1/2 teaspoon of Purex® detergent for 30 minutes. Rinse the stained area then pretreat with a small amount of detergent by gently rubbing it directly on the dirt stain. ketchup stain

3. Tips to Remove Ketchup & Mustard Stains

Gently rub Purex® liquid detergent directly onto the ketchup and mustard stain, then wash. Make sure to air dry the stain! Heat from the dryer can set in any remaining ketchup and mustard stain particles and make getting those last bits out extremely difficult. For more helpful tips, read how to remove ketchup & mustard stains.

chocolate stain

4. Tips to Remove Chocolate Stains

In a small container combine 2 cups of cold water with 1 tablespoon of Purex® detergent. Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and use the cloth to gently rub out the visible chocolate stain. Wash normally afterwards to complete the removal. We recommend Purex® Advanced Oxi + Coldwater Power liquid detergent, an affordable stain-removing detergent. bbq sauce stain

5. Tips to Remove BBQ Sauce Stains

Pretreat the barbecue sauce stain by rubbing firmly with Purex® liquid laundry detergent. Next, soak the BBQ sauce stained clothing item in warm water for 30 minutes. Launder with Purex® Pacs as you would normally with a suggested extra rinse cycle, making sure to check the care tag instructions of the clothing item.
