At Henkel, sustainability has always been a core value. From our earliest days, we have worked to develop products that meet the needs of our customers without compromising development opportunities for future generations.

Henkel has 5-year sustainability targets aiming at significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water consumptions, and waste disposal. We actively look for ways to innovate our products and supply chains and build sustainability partnerships, and we work hard to support and educate local communities worldwide.

Award Winning Efforts

Henkel's worldwide sustainability programs have been well recognized by both business partners and the public. We received Walmart Sustainability Awards in 2009 and 2010, and for the fourth year in a row, Henkel has been confirmed as the leader in the Non-Durable Household Products market sector of the World and European Dow-Jones Sustainability Indexes.

We are proud of our commitment to the environment, to our employees and to social progress and determined to continue our efforts to prove that sustainability isn't just the right thing to do—it's also good business.

Combining Superior Performance With Sustainability

In 2008 Purex liquid detergents moved permanently to smaller bottles and a 2X concentrated formula. And in 2012 new Purex UltraPacks took concentration to a whole new level. Purex UltraPacks are twice as concentrated as our already concentrated liquid detergents. With less water and packaging to transport, we are able to reduce CO2 emissions from transportation by 67%.

More than 95% of the ingredients in Purex Natural Elements laundry detergents and Renuzit® air freshener are naturally sourced and biodegradable.

Henkel was the first company to purchase certificates for sustainable palm kernel oil for our Terra Activ line of laundry detergents and household cleaners.

Dial Complete® foaming hand wash was designed to help consumers reduce water consumption by up to 40% when used as directed.

Dial Eco-Smart™ liquid hand soap refill pouches were designed to use 67% less plastic than bottle refills, lessening the impact on landfills while also reducing materials transportation and fuel usage.
