Ultra Purex® detergent has twice the concentration of Purex® Classic detergent, so you can use less and get the same great clean.
I noticed that there are small clumps of detergent forming in my box. Is this OK?
Dry detergent will cake in conditions where there is high humidity. Loose caking will not usually affect the ability of the detergent to clean clothes.
When I opened my box of detergent for the first time, it was not filled to the top. Is this normal?
Yes. We fill Purex® powder detergents by weight, not by volume. Also, powder detergents tend to settle during the shipping process.
Do you have any tips for washing in hard water?
Believe it or not, more than 85% of homes in the U.S. have hard water. Clothes that are washed in hard water tend to look dingy and feel harsh. 20 Mule Team® Borax works well for washing clothes in hard water. ½ cup of 20 Mule Team® Borax will help soften water and prolong the longevity of clothes.
What is the best way to get great results when doing laundry?
We recommend the following simple steps:
- Check all fabric labels for special laundry care instructions.
- Pre-treat any visible stains using Purex® detergent or Zout® stain remover. For instructions on removing tough stains, click here.
- Start washer using temperature setting noted on fabric care labels.
- Measure and add Purex® detergent. For hard water, we also recommend adding ½ cup of 20 Mule Team® Borax.
- Add laundry, washing similar colors together.
- For extra softening and static control, consider adding Purex® liquid fabric softener during the final rinse cycle. You can also add Purex® fabric softener sheets when loading your dryer.
